my journey

B”H

I grew up in a conservative Jewish home; yet, my entry point into subjective religious understanding and experience was through the philosophy and religions of the East. This eventually led to a wider range of belief and practice within the ubiquitous New Age Movement.

However G-d had other plans for me; and, He used my eclectic religious interests as a bridge to the Truth. The abandonment of syncretism, in my life brought me closer to Him through the original path I walked as a youth. “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).

After reading Gershom Scholem’s Trends in Jewish Mysticism, I was able to bridge the gap between my prior fascination with Eastern religion, and my budding interest in the Judaism of my earlier years. Eventually, I became a ba’al teshuvah, an observant Jew with a leaning towards chassidism.

It seems only natural to me, to seek a closer connection with G-d through a focus on deveykus, an all-encompassing heartfelt attachment to Him, permeating my life with an understanding from chassidishe texts, teachings, and traditions. Yet, with an academic background in Psychology and English, I try to make these perspectives accessible to all through my writing.

May the sheltering presence of the Shechinah be bestowed upon all, who are searching for the truth.
